Thank you to the parents who joined us for shared learning this week. We all enjoyed showing you our skills builder skills problem solving by figuring out what the ancient Chinese characters said. And our history/ art skills by making our own oracle bones which ancient Chinese people used to tell the future. sorry if you got abit dirty with the clay

History – Explorers

In our new History topic, we have been learning about Christopher Columbus. Today, we focused on the new foods and items he encountered when he travelled to North America. During the lesson, we ‘discovered’ some of these ourselves by using our five senses. For smell and taste, we were blindfolded and sampled pineapple. Circulatory system modelling

As part of our Science unit on the circulatory system, and our first Art lesson, we produced a junk model to build a human circulatory system.   We had to create chambers of the heart, blood vessels and label the model accurately to show what we had learnt across the last 3 lessons.      

Music with Mr Lewis

The children had their first brass lesson last week with Mr Lewis. The children are learning to play a cornet and had their introductory session. They really enjoyed it and are already looking forward to their next session! We have some fantastic musicians ready to flourish in these lessons! Well done, Juniper!  

Forest school fun!

Year 5 Juniper had their forest school session yesterday with Miss Brown. They explored the forest and carried out different exercises. These included a trust exercise where they had to form groups of 6 and work together creating an assault course. Artist research – Cai Guo-Qiang

Year 5 have been learning about the incredible installation artist Cai Guo-Qiang, and creating artist study pages about his work and life. The children used paint and straws to recreate his explosive style. We researched facts about Cai and chose our favourite ones to add to our pages. The final results are brilliant, well done Year 5.

Body Parts

This half-term, our Science topic is Animals: Sensitive bodies. In our first lesson we began by singing heads, shoulders, knees and toes to warm up and activate our prior knowledge before sharing the names of body parts we already knew. Science – Sensitive bodies

This half term, year 1 are focusing on ‘Sensitive bodies’ as our new topic  for the first lesson, we identified our different body parts, labelled them and understood what they are used for  we are then played a game to quickly point to different body parts
