Today we took out English lesson outside and used our imagination to imagine what our playground would be like if it was made of chocolate and sweets. here are some pictures of our work.
Maple enjoyed a lesson of discovering this afternoon. Working with a partner, they read the information on mountains and decided on the answers to the questions set for them. Excellent detective work everyone!
Thank you so much to our secret reader this week. Louis was so surprised that it was his dad! Louis Dad read ‘Charlie Cook’s favourite book’ to us this week, we really enjoyed the story and noticed that it was a written by our focus author, Julia Donaldson. At the end we showed that we liked the story by giving a big thumbs up!
Wow, What a lovely week we have had! This week we were reading ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ and did lots of activities surrounding the story. Today we had our last session with Link for Life for FRESH. We looked at the healthy plate again and talked about a balanced diet. We were very excited to have a secret reader in our class today and it was Benjamin’s mummy. We all sat quietly and she read ‘The dinosaur that pooped a planet’. We listened carefully and did lots of laughing. Our favourite part of the story was when the dinosaur pooped. We had lots of fun listening and look forward to our next secret reader. As part of creating an information booklet on food chains and webs of the Arctic regions, Year 6 looked at how artists use accurate guidelines and proportions when sketching. They looked at how to use simple shapes to help guide them to sketching an accurate outline, as well as looking at different techniques to draw in correct proportions. Maple enjoyed a very special lesson with their parents this morning. We began by finding out which continents of the world some famous mountain ranges were found in. The children and their parents then wrote some amazing descriptive sentences about mountains and their surroundings.
Last week we created prototypes and designs for our Mountain models. Today was the fun part! We showed some fantastic team work as we started to create our mountain structures using cups and Papier- Mache although I think there was more glue on some of our hands than there was on the actual models… We can wait to see the finished models!
