BODMAS

This week, we have begun to look at order of operations and using brackets.   We explored BODMAS and how there is a strict order we must follow. We also looked at how we could use brackets to change the outcome of a calculation in which the numbers and symbols remain the same.   We were set a challenge to use the numbers 12, 8, 3 and 4 to create calculations with 25 set answers. Arctic Food Chains and Food Webs

Year 6 have been studying the physical geography of both the Arctic and Antarctica. After looking at how some animals have adapted to be able to survive there, we then looked at how we can construct food chains to identify predators, prey, primary and secondary consumers and producers. The Qur’an

In RE this week we have been recalling what we have learnt about Islam and have been looking at the Qur’an. Cameron was a whizz this week and could recall lots of facts. Cameron then told me he was answering questions on ‘The chase’ about Islam and he got the answer right and the contestant got it wrong!! Wow Cameron well done 👍🏻

Outdoor Reading 📚

This morning, we have been reading our book of the week in Kaden’s Garden. We were very excited to read it outside and we are going to have a think about where else in school we can read. Our book this week is ‘What the Ladybird Heard’. When we finished reading the story, we were able to go on a ladybird hunt.  

🍫🍭Queen’s ‘chocolate and sweet’ park🍭🍫

Year 3 have been re-writing the story of ‘Charlie and the chocolate factory’ including a setting description of the chocolate room. This week the children will be writing a setting description independently, however, the room they will be writing about is a chocolate park. Fragrance workshop

As part of the Hallè orchestra project, year 5 were lucky enough to be involved in a fragrance workshop. Perfume creators from PZ Cussons came into class and we got to smell lots of new fragrances. We created our own imaginary planets based on the fragrances, played a fragrance guessing game and rated different fragrances. We are looked forward to the next stage of the project at Manchester Art Gallery.  

A trip to see the River Roch

Year 4 had a fantastic time this afternoon as we went down to the River Roch in Queen’s Park. The children spotted meanders and signs of erosion, transportation and deposition. They were amazing at explaining what each meant. They noticed signs of pollution and discussed why this was bad for the river.
