This afternoon in Reception we have been learning about Bonfire Night. We have learnt about Guy Fawkes and we have discussed how we celebrate Bonfire Night. This afternoon Year 5 worked hard researching the solar system. We used the laptops to find out information about different planets. We discovered lots of information including the size of the planets, the distance from the sun and whether they were Jovian or terrestrial. The children worked in pairs to produce informative posters and then presented them to the class
We went to the Library last Monday and Mrs Nuttall read a story, chosen by a member of our class. We then all chose a book to take home from the library to keep in school, ready for our independent reading time!
Sticking to the theme of Leaf Man and Autumn, Miss Brown came up with a lovely idea for Willows today. She asked them to print with the leaves they found outside and this created a lovely Christmas tree picture. We will be adding baubles with our fingers when they are all dry.
Today Willows went out into the school grounds and chose a leaf from the ground. They brought it back inside and used their adjectives to describe how the leaf looked, felt and sounded when we moved it. We got lots of adjectives such as ‘crunchy’, ‘green’ and ‘scaly’. We loved describing our leaves.
Bluebells have been going to the dough disco since half term! We have a dough disco monitor who has the important job of being in charge of the dough. Today we have been learning about James Lind, a surgeon from the 18th century who discovered the importance of vitamin c in our diet. We were experimenting with different fruits to work out which ones had the most vitamin c in them. We tasted different fruits and rated them depending on how sour they were.
