One more and one less

We have been practising one more and one less and started by making numbers with cubes. Some of us went outdoors to use our 100 square to JUMP as high as we could to the next number.   We had lots of fun and love learning outdoors!

Our class novel

Year 5 read reviews on various novels and then had a vote to determine which would be our class novel. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was the winner and we have enjoyed reading the first two chapters. We discussed how we don’t think Harry is being treated fairly at the Dursley’s house and predicted what we think is going to happen at the zoo.

Biscuit-henge (Stonehenge)

As part of our Stoneage topic, we have been learning all about the famous monument Stonehenge. We talked about why it would have been so difficult to build all those years ago and what it is believed to have been used for. We then took a 360 degree, virtual tour inside the monument and discovered more information about each section of the monument and the stone used. We then used this knowledge to work in Read more

Reading time in year 4

At the end of each day, Year 4 love listening to a good story. At the moment, we are listening to ‘The witches’ by Roald Dahl. We find the descriptions of the witches very funny and love it when Mrs Downing changes the character names to names of children in our class. We have just read about ways to spot a witch and we can’t wait to see what happens next.

European day of languages

Tomorrow is European day of languages. We found out some interesting facts about languages. We thought it was very interesting that in London around 300 languages are spoken every day and that by the age of 21 you will have spoken about 50 million words! We thought about reasons why it is good to learn new languages and used the IPad to find out cool facts about different languages and countries.

Learning to log onto laptops

Logging onto the laptops was hard work! We had to remember how to do capital letters and remember the password sequence.   All managed to do it with the help from an adult or a friend!   Whilst others were logging onto laptops, some children explored what we had on offer on the iPads. We had lots of fun.

Dinosaur School

In Reception we have had two new visitors at our school, they are Dina and Wally of the Dinosaur school. Dina is the head teacher and Wally goes to the dinosaur school. Wally was very scared to come out and meet the us so we came up with some ideas to help him. We were super quiet in the classroom and all did good sitting to make him feel comfortable in our class. Wally then Read more

Our first reading book 📚

Today in Bluebells we have been doing our first reading session. We have all had our own book and we have discussed how to take care of books. We have learnt how to hold a book, turn one page at a time and discuss the pictures and characters in the book. Everyone enjoyed their first reading session and we are looking forward to doing lots more reading!
