In French today we been recapping on our French vocabulary of different clothes. The children have been building on their children prior knowledge to start to use phrases about clothes. Here are some pictures of our lesson.
During English lessons we have been looking at the story ‘ Osebo’s drum’. We have been acting out the story writing our own versions and we have even been to visit Osebo’s home!
First we learnt the meanings of beat, tempo , rhythm and rhyme. We then worked in groups and turned nursery rhymes into a raps thinking about the beat and using different tempos.
We worked in groups to create balloon drums. We then created instructions to help other people to make one.
This week in our maths lessons we are carrying on learning about partitioning and tens and ones, but we are learning to use different ways to represent 2-digit numbers. Today we learnt how to use tens frames to do this.
Aliens have landed at St Luke’s! Aliens have landed at our school and have been curious about the different types of materials there are on earth. We decided to make a spaceship using materials available to us to help them get home.
We worked together to practise and perform different nursery rhymes in fun ways. We performed them using different styles: lullaby, rap or rock. We had lots of fun watching different video examples then deciding how we wanted to perform our rhymes.
As part of our continued studies around Darwin and his theories, we took on the role he would have had during his studies and expeditions. We delved into some of his studies and observations and noted what he would use them for and what he gained from them. This week the children have been using the base 10 equipment to work out how many tens and ones are in different numbers. They have worked really hard and thought about how to represent numbers in different ways.
