World Book Day!

What a fun day we have had today for World Book Day – we have had such a busy day doing lots of exciting activities: Dressing up as different book characters Writing acrostic poems about sweets and chocolate Finding hidden golden tickets to win prizes Working in groups to create collages out of sweet and chocolate wrappers Visting the immersive room to have a tour around Charlie’s chocolate factory Paired reading with Year 5

World Book Day!

The whole school was alive as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory can to school. All the children and staff came together (dressed up in costumes) to celebrate world book day. Here are some snap shots of our morning.  

Works book day!

We have a fantastic adventure today! Year 4 showed off their creativity with their amazing costumes.    Then in p.e- we continued our dance work by recreating the Oompa Loompa dance.

Children worked hard today to make 2D and 3D shapes with Jelly Tots and cocktail sticks! They made squares, triangles, hexagons, octagons, pentagons as well as some 3D shapes like cubes and square based pyramids.   They were asked “Can you make a circle out of the Jelly Tots and cocktail sticks? Science experiment

Phonics in Year 1

Miss Jones’ group in phonics have now learnt 3 graphemes that all make the same sound: ee ea e_e We have been writing lots of words with the sound, trying to work out which spelling choice we need to use – it was very tricky!  

Science fun… Planting!

Oaks had so much fun planting beans last week! We planted 2 types: runner beans and broad beans.   They added soil into their plant pot and then popped their chosen bean into the soil and covered it up. Chinese New Year

This week, we have been learning about Chinese New Year. We have enjoyed learning about a different tradition and we have compared it to our own traditions. We have learnt lots of interesting facts about the Chinese New Year. Our favourite fact was that they set fireworks off at midnight. TT Rockstars: Battle of the Bands!

Year 5 & Year 6 have begun a week long ‘Battle of the Bands’ on TT Rockstars. The children can earn points for their band each time they play. The two bands will be playing across the week, both at home and in school, to try to earn points which can help their band to win!
