Investigating in Science

This week in our Science lesson we have started an investigation – What do plants need to grow? We all planted a seed in some soil and decided that we need to water them every day. We have also put one of our planted pots in a cupboard to see if it will grow without any light.

Wolves in the Wall

Year 5 have been in the immersive room this morning experiencing what the main character in their new class read was feeling as she heard wolves in the wall of her house! Everyone brought in a teddy to comfort them as they sat in the dark listening to the wolves howling and snarling. Some fantastic thoughts and feelings were written down by everyone. Well done .

Drumming Extravaganza

Year 5 have enjoyed a drumming workshop alongside the rest of KS2 with the drummer from rock band Status Quo. Everyone learnt about the different types of drums and where they came from. Aroni and Niall were lucky enough to be chosen to play with Geoff! Year 5 played along with Geoff playing a percussion instrument while he played the drums. Fantastic!

Rocking all over the world!

Year 4 and the rest of the school have had a fantastic time with Jeff Rich (previous drummer of the famous band Status Quo). Jeff lead a masterclass for the school teaching the history of percussion instruments as well as techniques on how to play them. Here are some snap shots of our rocking morning.

Impressive Victorian presentations!

We have been creating presentations including lots of facts about The Victorians using PowerPoint, we used the Internet and books to research Queen Victoria, Victorian Schools, toys and homes. We have learnt to create slides including subheadings, bullet points, images and animations! We then presented them to the rest if the class!
