Rock N Roll

During Music lessons, Year 4 have been looking at Rock n Roll. So far we have looked at different rock and rock artists such as Elvis Presley and Bill Haley. We have learnt how to perform the hand jive and are currently learning how to ‘ walk the baseline’ using the glockenspiels.

Year 3 Birch – VE Day

Birch have had a great day today learning all about VE Day! We’ve done some dancing, flag making, cabbage soup tasting… (yuck!) and had a lovely interactive Zoom call with the lovely Mr Dilly! We learnt lots from him and saw some amazing photographs.

VE day

Thank you to all parents and carers who helped us celebrate VEday! The children experienced life in the 1940s by making cabbage soup; looking through and working out how ration books worked; having a dance workshop to learn how to dance the Lindy Hop and had a 1940s lunch outside   We all had a great day!

The Gingerbread Man

This week and next week, we are reading the story, ‘The Gingerbread Man’. Reception have been designing their own gingerbread person this week. They have been creating their own life size gingerbread outside with chalk. They drew around themselves with a partner and then designed them on the floor.

VE Day Celebrations

Today, the whole school celebrated VE Day. We took part in an assembly, in which we learnt all about what VE Day is, what it was like during the war, and the reasons why we celebrate it and think about those who lost their lives. Linking project – a visit to Marland Hill

As part of an exciting collaborative project, Year 4 joined forces with pupils from Marland Hill and created masks through a special art and poetry initiative exploring identity, creativity, and connection. We used our hobbies, likes, and parts of our personalities to create meaningful drawings that represented who we are. Year 4 Trip to the Science and Industry Museum, Manchester Year 4 had an exciting and educational trip to the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester!
