Breaking Barriers

Some children from Year 5 Pine and Juniper have had the opportunity to work with Breaking Barriers, a Rochdale-based, multidisciplinary production company this morning. Different skills

In our PSHE lesson this week, Year 5 Juniper have been looking at how everybody is different, the different skills we have, our interests and what makes us diverse. Computing – concept maps and online safety

This week our computing lesson turned into a physical exercise activity. This half term we’re learning all about concept maps and the importance of recording information. We demonstrated the idea of a physical concept map using string. We then discussed how difficult it was to remember everybody’s ideas and why it would be easier if we recorded the information visually. Forest school fun

Year 5 Pine had their first forest school session of the half term today. We had the perfect weather for a fun afternoon of shelter building and den building. We worked on our team building skills and reintroduced the rules of the forest.

Artistic Architecture!

This week in Year 5 Juniper, we started our new topic called Craft and Design: Architecture. The children this week learned all about observational drawing, scaling, sketching and accuracy. The children enjoyed drawing items from their memory to practice, before they went ahead to draw a house using the techniques they had learned. Linking Paragraphs

Pine have been learning how to link ideas across paragraphs using adverbials of time, place, number and tense choices. We read through a number of texts and identified the adverbials used, then we tried to order a story by identifying the adverbials.
