Year 1 dojo treat
As a reward for earning so many dojos this half-term, Year 1 had a treat today. We completed colourings, crafts and created valentines bear biscuits. Have a lovely half-term Year 1

Safer Internet Day
Reception have been learning about how to keep safe online. Harold showed us a video about how Jessie saw something she didn’t like online. She taught us a song about keeping safe online and told us to always tell an adult if we ever see anything online that has made us feel funny or worried. The digital leaders then came into Reception and read a story to us about keeping safe online.
Careers Related Learning
A Visit to the Church
This half term we have been learning about churches and special places. This week all of Reception have been to visit St Lukes Church. It was very interesting to see all of the features that we have been learning about in real life. The Reverend also spoke to us more about her career and about the celbrations that are held at the church, including baptism, weddings and communion. Poetry and Local Dialect
Today we looked at examples of poetry from around the world that display examples of local dialect. We looked at different examples, including Scottish, Lancastrian and Caribbean. We then tried to decide what the dialect meant. We have created a bank of vocabulary to use when writing our own poems later in the week.
Computing
Screen Time and Online Safety
Year 6 looked at how much time we spend online, using mobile devices or other screens. We looked at how this time can be when performing useful tasks, such as researching a topic, rather than extended periods of time looking at content or on social media. We also looked at the dangers posed when spending too much time on devices and how to stay safe online.
Art & Design
Artist Research – Cai Guo-Qiang
Year 5 have had an explosive end to our installation artwork unit by creating artist research pages about the artist Cai Guo-Qiang. We modelled our backgrounds on the explosive style used by Cai and his love of creating artwork using fireworks and gunpowder. The children used paint and straws to create the effect we wanted. STEM Club Week 4
In this weeks challenge, the children had answer the inquiry question ‘can we build a nest as well as a bird? We used a range of materials to make the nest and then tested them to see if they could survive in the wind and rain.
Careers Related Learning
STEM club- Week 1
STEM club have been working towards the Crest Award. The children have looked more into various scientist careers and the skills that are needed. In order to be successful, the children have taken on the role of a scientist and independently completed different challenges/ experiments. This week the children completed the task ‘Crafty rafts’. We then tested them in water to see which raft held the most amount pieces of paper before it sank.
