Internet safety
This week was internet safety week. In Year 5 we discussed social media and the positive and negative impacts it can have on us.
English
No Problem – Benjamin Zephaniah
Year 6 have been looking at the poem, No Problem, by Benjamin Zephaniah. We studied the language used, the massages linked to racism he faced growing up and how it is written in his dialect. Later in the week, we will be producing our own poems linked to the theme ‘What Language Means to Me’, with three entries being picked to enter into a competition.
Physical Education
Fitness Fun
This half term we have been focusing on fitness in one of our PE sessions. We have been completing lots of fitness activities confidently and achieving a number of personal bests. We have been learning how to co-ordinate our bodies efficiently to perform a combination of movements when exercising!
Design and technology
Healthy Eating
This week Reception have been learning about healthy eating. It is really important for superheroes to eat healthy! We have been learning about different fruit and vegetables. Police visit
We were very excited to have two police officers visit reception today as part of our people who help us topic. The children asked lots of questions and found out about some of the important jobs that police officers do. They also got the opportunity to try on some of the uniform. The children also loved going outside to look at the police car and listen to the siren.

A trip to the moon
We have been learning about Neil Armstrong’s mission to the moon. In the immersive room we took a trip to the moon to experience what it would be like.

KS1 Athletics – Sports Journalist Report
KS1 Athletics Event. KS 1 children took part in the Heywood Sports partnership athletics competition, held at Heywood Sports Village. First up were the races.
