The Sky’s The Limit – Engineering Educates Robotics Challenge

Year 6 Erlson engineering trip

Today the children had an exciting visit to Erlson Factory where they explored the world of engineering. During the trip, they were able to see how engineers work in real-life settings and learn about the different career opportunities within engineering. The children also discussed the important skills and attributes needed to become an engineer, such as problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and perseverance. Careers Week- Engineer’s-Marble Runs!

This week we have loved careers week with a focus on Engineering! In Year 1 we have designed, created, reviewed and show cased our Marble Runs! Islam Assembly

This morning we were very lucky to have two special visitors into school. Children in KS1 and KS2 had a very informative assembly about Islam. Soban and Burhan came into school to teach us some Arabic greetings, teach us about the 5 pillars of Islam and about fasting. Mae Jemison

This week is Careers Week at St Luke’s with a focus on engineering and in Pine today we have been looking into the life of Mae Jemison – the first African-American black woman to become an astronaut. During our lesson we held a press conference for Mae. Children took on the role of being Mae Jemison and answered questions from other class members. The children displayed some excellent confident formal speaking and asked some fantastic questions – Why is engineering important in space? What skills do you need to be successful? What was your biggest challenge?

All Around the World – French Week for Reception

Children really enjoyed French week. We learnt all about famous landmarks in France, along with where France is on the map. We looked at how we could get from England to France via the euro tunnel, ferry and aeroplane. We finished our week off by tasting some lovely French food. We even got some tasty French Brie and some children wanted to taste this. Most children loved it!
