Football skills
Year 1 have had lots of fun learning new football skills in PE this half-term. We have also been able to practise lots of our ‘Skills builder’ skills such as listening and teamwork.
Science
Materials
In Science, Year 1 have been learning about materials and their properties. We have really enjoyed taking part in a number of experiments, including finding out if various materials are transparent, translucent or opaque, if materials float or sink and if materials are waterproof or absorbent. The children made some fantastic predictions using their knowledge of the materials.
Careers Related Learning
Weather reporter
In Geography this half-term, Year 1 have been learning about weather patterns. This week we talked about meteorologists and how these scientists study weather patterns. We then became weather reporters, using our knowledge of weather as well as the vocabulary, North, South, Inland and Coastal, to present our own weather reports. Skills Builder
Year 6 were introduced to our new skill builder logos and why these skills are important not only in school, but for future careers. We discussed our own listening and presenting skills, as well as job roles that need to show these skills. We then explored stereotypes, with regards to different roles, and how we can pursue many different roles in the future. European day of Languages
On Friday, Year 1 had an amazing time celebrating European day of Languages! We participated in a French dance workshop, tried French food, answered the register in French, learnt greetings in different European languages and sang French songs.
Art & Design
Painting and mixed media portraits
Year 5 Pine have been learning all about mixed media and the different ways in which an artist may create a self portrait. Today we have been experimenting with different materials and techniques to create our own self portraits. The results are amazing! Next week the children will evaluate their work before they go on to create their final piece. Well done Year 5!
History
Roman experience!
Last week, we were lucky enough to experience a Roman workshop. During the workshop, we learnt about Roman life, their amour and created our very own Roman flag. We tried the amour on, which was very heavy! We also had the chance to look at a number of artefacts that were replicas from the Roman time. We had such a great morning! Thank you touchstones.

European Day of Languages 2024
On Friday we had so much fun celebrating the European Day of Languages. We got to experience a dance workshop taught by a French teacher, enjoyed a traditional French snack and researched a European country of our choice! Thank you to Mrs Pilliterri for organising. some children commented : I loved learning the traditional French dance! I love researching a different country to ours and working with my friend The croissant was delicious!

European day of languages
We have had a fun day celebrating European day of languages. We came to school wearing red, white and blue then started the day by eating delicious croissants while listening to French music. We have been learning how to say hello and hi in French and took part in a traditional French dance lesson too.
