Shared Learning in Willows

Thank you so much to all the adults that joined our shared learning today. We had lots of fun showing you our Writing about walking through the woods in different seasons, performing our seasons song and creating our art work with you. Thank you for all your support  

Cutting and drawing with precision

During our Art lessons, we have been creating pieces of art work focusing on precision using scissors to create the first picture and then creating our own scratch picture with wax crayons and paint, to re-crate the original picture. The children did so well concentrating hard to ensure they could recreate their abstract pictures.

Languages Club

Thank you to all that attended Languages Club this half term. We’ve been very busy learning greetings in different languages, we looked at different European flags and matched languages to their country of origin, played games using the phrases and words we had learnt and even tasted some different foods linking to the countries were learning about. Cookery club – a sweet treat!

This week we made some sweet puff pastry tarts. Children were able to cut out the shapes they wanted and filled the puff pastry with sweet treats which we hen cooked in the air fryers. We certainly have some budding chefs on our hands as children have created some of our tasty treats at home with their parents which is lovely to hear. Skills builder – listening and speaking

This half term we are focusing on two skills based on our Skills Builder programme. Our focus is listening and speaking. Children reflected on themselves as a learner and how they rate themselves in terms of listening and speaking. Black History Month

Today in our Collective Worship we have been learning about Black History month. This is celebrated every year in the month of October to recognise the achievements of black people, both past and present, who have made a difference to the lives of others. We’ve read about Rosa Parks, Barrack Obama, Nelson Mandela and Jesse Owens. We also linked this celebration to the book we are reading in class at the moment called ‘Journey to Read more

Black History Month

Today we have read and learnt about the importance of Black History Month. Children were able to recognise some significant people who have made a difference to the world due to their hard work and determination but also played a part in history due to their racial heritage. We learnt about the movements that occurred in 1926 that began the first celebration of Black History Month.

Listening and speaking skills

This year, all children have been introduced to ‘Skills builder’. These are a set of 8 essential skills that are important for career success.
