Last week we went to our boys competition. They played so well and we even had our very own sports coaches on the sidelines, helping with logistics. We came 2nd place and are extremely proud! Well played boys!

During our Art lessons, we have been creating pieces of art work focusing on precision using scissors to create the first picture and then creating our own scratch picture with wax crayons and paint, to re-crate the original picture. The children did so well concentrating hard to ensure they could recreate their abstract pictures.
Willows have had lots of fun in Forest School this week. We used our crafts skills to create Art work related to our Geography topic ‘Weather Patterns’.

This week we made some sweet puff pastry tarts. Children were able to cut out the shapes they wanted and filled the puff pastry with sweet treats which we hen cooked in the air fryers. We certainly have some budding chefs on our hands as children have created some of our tasty treats at home with their parents which is lovely to hear. Today in our Collective Worship we have been learning about Black History month. This is celebrated every year in the month of October to recognise the achievements of black people, both past and present, who have made a difference to the lives of others. We’ve read about Rosa Parks, Barrack Obama, Nelson Mandela and Jesse Owens. We also linked this celebration to the book we are reading in class at the moment called ‘Journey to Read more
Today we have read and learnt about the importance of Black History Month. Children were able to recognise some significant people who have made a difference to the world due to their hard work and determination but also played a part in history due to their racial heritage. We learnt about the movements that occurred in 1926 that began the first celebration of Black History Month.
This year, all children have been introduced to ‘Skills builder’. These are a set of 8 essential skills that are important for career success.
