Year 3 Birch Cave Art
We looked more into cave art from the prehistoric times. They loved seeing the simplicity of them. We see last weeks picture that we drew and recreated it on a larger scale, using charcoal.

Today we have been using charcoal like our ancestors would have done to create some Stone Age artwork. Here are some pictures of our learning.
Last we used paint and different materials to create different textures. This week we then used this textured work to create a collage of a seaside. We looked at some simple shapes to help us draw animals! We first sketched these shapes out, then added detail to create the more complex shapes and then, turn it into our animal! Can you guess what animal we had drawn?
This week we have been exploring our new topic Prehistoric Britain. We became archaeologists and student ancient artefacts. We have also used our arts and craft skills to create art work inspired by Stone henge. Here are some pictures of our learning.

Year 3 Birch have had so much fun for our first week back. We have made woolly mammoths, read stories, wrote about our hopes and dreams, talked about what is important to us and revised over what we learnt in Year 2.
During Art week we learnt about Andy Goldsworthy, he used lots of natural materials to create sculptures and pieces of art. We recreated a sculpture with paint and chalk. We really enjoyed it, we hope you like our artwork too.
The whole school took part in an ‘Art Week’ last week. Year 2 studied the artist David Hockney. We found out lots of information about the artist and his creations and created an artist study in our sketchbooks. We then created our own Hockney inspired Art using acrylic paints.
