Problem Patterns
As part of our Maths investigations, we looked at following a set of rules to create patterns. We had to work out fractions, percentages, ratio, area, perimeter and symmetry.

This week during our maths lessons we have been finding the perimeter of squares, rectangles and rectilinear shapes. We have been practicing using a ruler to measure the length and weight. The children have worked hard to add the larger numbers together or use different methods to fund the end Read more
As part of our route in algebra, Year 6 began to explore nth term and how can use our times table knowledge to help. We explored linear sequences, changing the number we start counting from and how nth term can be seen as our times tables, but adjusted in terms Read more
As part of our algebra lesson on ‘finding the rule’, we looked at how we can create algebraic rules and formulae to solve real world problems. We looked at how we can help create football tables, including writing rules and formulae, to total points, games played and goal difference. We Read more
In art, year 1 have been learning about and creating 3D art. This week, in forest school, we created our own 3D sculptures, of an animal of our choice, using clay and natural materials. After working so hard in lessons today, we also had some free time exploring forest school Read more
Juniper have been working on ‘finding the whole’ in Maths this morning. We have used our knowledge of finding fractions of amounts and our times tables to calculate the answers. We’ve drawn some fantastic bar models to visualise and calculate. These have really helped us in our learning.
Birch used base 10 to work out division calculations. We exchanged one 10 for 10 ones when we needed to and then shared equally into groups. For example 75 divided by 3.
Juniper have worked extremely hard this week to learn a written method for multiplying 2 digits by 2 digits. We have written a recipe for being successful. All of us have shown great progress since the start of the week and today we have been able to work in pairs, Read more
We have had a lots of fun this week learning about 2D and 3D shapes. To help learn the different properties we drew around 2D shapes using different colours. We then looked at how many vertices 2D shapes have by using string to make each shape and how many fingers Read more
As part of our four operations unit of work, Year 6 looked at order of operations and how we must use BODMAS. We explored how brackets and BODMAS affect our answers, challenged ourselves to use BODMAS to find 30 answers to the same calculation, played connect 4 and even solved Read more
