Today has been World Book Day. The children from Maple all looked fabulous dressed up in their favourite character costumes. We began the day by writing a review of our favourite books – books by Roald Dahl and David Walliams were very popular!
We took part in a ‘live lesson’ listening to some authors who have written books especially for World Book Day. We also met some of the illustrators. The children have all taken home a voucher to buy their £1 book.
We’ve also been busy writing poems about what reading means to us and how reading a book makes us feel – we did this through the power of metaphors.
This afternoon we have performed some poems through using expression and tone in our voices and actions. We’ve also become illustrators and made up a character of our own to add to the story ‘The World’s Worst Class’.
We finished the day with our daily ‘whole class 10 minute reading pledge’.
See below for a selection of photos from our World Book Day 2022!
