Is it a fruit or vegetable?

This half term our Design and Technology Topic is ‘Fruits and Vegetables’. This afternoon, Willows have had fun sorting fruits and vegetables in to the correct categories. We discovered that fruits have seeds and vegetables don’t! World Book Day!

As part of World Book Day we celebrations, Year 2 looked at learning, writing and performing poetry. We also shared a story with ‘Dermot O”Leary’ and designed front covers of our favourite book. We read lots of different stories and talked about why we love reading. All of the children looked fantastic in their costume A big well done to Verity who won the prize for best costume in Elm!          

Forgiveness at Forest School

This week Year 5 have enjoyed getting back to Forest School. We recapped the rules and played some games to ensure we remembered them. We are linking our sessions to our PSHE lessons and thinking about Easter. We discussed what forgiveness is and why it is important. World Book Day

  Willows have really enjoyed World Book Day in and have been taking part in lots of activities. We took part in a LIVE lesson all about rhyming words and how we can use them in our poetry writing. We loved performing a poem as a class, which told the story of Little Red Riding Hood and including actions which helped us remember the lines of the poem. World Book Day 2022 in Year 5

This week Year 5 have been celebrating World Book day. We have dressed up as Book characters, took part in a live lesson, wrote book reviews, designed a new book cover for a book we have enjoyed, made book marks, completed mindful colouring of some inspiring quotes from books, and studied, learnt and performed the poem ‘Malfeasance’. The children looked fantastic in their costumes and did really well in their poetry performance.

French Music

This week in Music, Miss Taylor taught the children some songs in French. We sang head, shoulders, knees and toes and Frere Jacques in French and English. We then listened to the elephant and aquarium songs from the Carnival of The Animals written by French musician Camille Saint-Saëns. World Book Day

Yesterday we celebrated World Book Day. We all dressed up in fantastic costumes to celebrate our favourite characters. We read lots of stories and talked about why we love having stories read to us. A big well done to Bobby who won the prize for best costume in Snowdrops!

France and Pancake Day

Bonjour! This week we have been getting letters from Bertie Bear who has gone on holiday to France. We have looked at different French landmarks and have used lots of different adjectives to describe them. We have also had a go at saying different French words including French foods.
