Trust Art

Year 5 were excited to create art work for a whole school competition this afternoon. For the competition, each year group has been given one of our Christian values to focus their art work on- the winning art from each year group will be displayed in our new entrance.  

Brand New DigiSmart!

Year 6 had the chance to have a first try of the new DigiSmart app. We have used DigiSmart for a couple of years at St. Luke’s, so the children were well-placed to look at the changes and what was new! ‘DigiSmart Comprehension: Protest & Power’ helps to build children and young people’s reading comprehension, their capacity to make sense of language and acquire a richer, deeper understanding of the written word. Forest School

This week Year 4 Maple have enjoyed our first Forest School session. We are linking our sessions with RE in the lead up to the celebration of Easter. Today we learnt all about the beginning of lent and why we celebrate with pancakes. We then enjoyed some pancakes by the fire. Civil Rights Essay

During the Spring term, Year 6 have been studying the history of civil rights and civil rights movements in America, in particular from 1950 onwards.   We looked at famous events, rules, laws, attitudes and people. World Book Day in Year 1

This week we had a whole week of celebrating World Book Day; we made posters of our favourite books and characters, played games to practise our rhyming, shared our favourite stories, listened to our favourite author (Julia Donaldson) read some of her stories, learnt a poem, wrote a poem together as a class, dressed up, read lots of books and then finished off the week by having a booknic – sharing books with our friends Read more…

Is it a fruit or vegetable?

This half term our Design and Technology Topic is ‘Fruits and Vegetables’. This afternoon, Willows have had fun sorting fruits and vegetables in to the correct categories. We discovered that fruits have seeds and vegetables don’t! World Book Day!

As part of World Book Day we celebrations, Year 2 looked at learning, writing and performing poetry. We also shared a story with ‘Dermot O”Leary’ and designed front covers of our favourite book. We read lots of different stories and talked about why we love reading. All of the children looked fantastic in their costume A big well done to Verity who won the prize for best costume in Elm!          

Forgiveness at Forest School

This week Year 5 have enjoyed getting back to Forest School. We recapped the rules and played some games to ensure we remembered them. We are linking our sessions to our PSHE lessons and thinking about Easter. We discussed what forgiveness is and why it is important.
