Science club – rafts

Science club have been working towards the Crest Award. In order to be successful, the children have the independently complete different challenges. This week the children completed the task ‘Crafty rafts’. We then tested them in water to see which raft held the most amount of counters before it sank.

Farm to Fork

As part of our D&T Come Dine with Me topic, we looked at how the ingredients we will be using, make it to the shelves in the supermarket.   We looked at how they are grown, picked, packed, shipped and delivered across different continents around the globe or from within Britain itself.

Linking project Year 4 Hawthorn

Today we have had our next Linking Project meeting day with our partner school, Ashfield Valley. Thanks to Touchstones, we had workshops creating shadow puppet workshops and a body movement workshop both were based around the book ‘The Crown’ It was so much fun meeting up with our partner school. We worked with our partner for most of the day as well as enjoying play time together.

Safer internet day – 2024

For safer internet day 2024, Year 6 discussed ways in which they can stay safe online and promote online safety. Children disccused and explored the positivies and negatives of the internet and how the internet has the power to change our lives. Common and proper nouns

This week, Year 1 have been super grammarsauruses. They have been learning about two different types of nouns. We have learnt actions for each to help us remember them, sorted words and images into proper nouns, common nouns or not a noun, played games to test our knowledge and completed some fantastic work in our books.

3D sculptures in forest school

In art, year 1 have been learning about and creating 3D art. This week, in forest school, we created our own 3D sculptures, of an animal of our choice, using clay and natural materials. After working so hard in lessons today, we also had some free time exploring forest school once our sculptures were complete.

Finding the whole

Juniper have been working on ‘finding the whole’ in Maths this morning. We have used our knowledge of finding fractions of amounts and our times tables to calculate the answers. We’ve drawn some fantastic bar models to visualise and calculate. These have really helped us in our learning.
