The Good Samaritan

In forest school this week, we have been on a hunt around the forest. We found lots of pictures from the story, The Good Samaritan. The children discussed the different parts of the story and then they worked together to put the pictures in the correct order. Gymnastics

In PE, Year 6 have been looking at how they can create their own routines in gymnastics. They have had to think about skills that can flow after each other, how to balance and travel effectively, and complexity of moves. Sycamore worked extremely hard and were awarded best class in PE for their attitude and effort last week.

Shared Learning

Year 6 Sycamore welcomed parents and family into our shared learning this morning. We were able to discuss our latest geography topic, Local Fieldwork, as well as the persuasive letters we wrote as part of our English unit. The letters and fieldwork, a traffic survey we conducted outside of school, highlighted the traffic and parking issues outside school. Forest school

This week Year 3 Birch enjoyed a very wet and windy forest school session exploring and making Autumn pictures with the natural resources. We also did some acrostic poems on our Christian Value which for this half term is friendship. The children then sequenced the story of The Good Samaritan and created some amazing mud paintings.

Year 3 – Communities

We talked about communities and what this meant. We discovered that we are all involved with a few communities so we decided to write down which communities we were involved in! There’s lots of variety from our school community to Thai Boxing!

Anti-bullying Week

The anti-bullying council had a lovely opportunity today to work with RAFC Community. This is a charity that works with schools to promote positive messages. This week, the focus was anti-bullying. They learnt what bullying was and did lots of active activities surrounding this topic. The children loved it and received stickers and certificates at the end of it!

Which wall will fall?

In Science last half-term, we learnt about materials and their properties. This half-term, we are using all of this knowledge in our new topic ‘Building Things’. We talked about a class of children who went on a school trip to the rainforest who had to quickly use the things around them to build a shelter from the rain. One built using sticks, one used paper from their books and the other used rocks and stones. Read more

Year 3 Birch – looking for textures in art

Year 3 have had such a fun afternoon looking for different textures to create rubbings from. We looked indoors and outdoors to find contrasting textures to use in our art work. We then came in and created a picture with the rubbings by tearing shapes out of them. They looked lovely in the end! Well done, Year 3.
