Tuesday

Today when we arrived at school something odd had happened! Frogs had fallen from the ceiling! Over the next week we are going investigate what has happened and create newspaper reports based on our findings. Today we walked around as detectives and created questions that we could ask eye witnesses.

Orange Squash Formulations

This half term we have been investigating ‘Separating Mixtures’ for our science topic. This week we conducted an investigation into formulations and mixtures using orange juice and water. The children had fun measuring out the quantities they needed for their formulations. Some of us even enjoyed a taste test at the end.

Gassed – John Singer Sargent

Year 6 looked at answering questions on the painting ‘Gassed’ by John Singer Sargent. We looked at the story behind the image and looked at who the people were, where they were and what they could be thinking and feeling at that moment. We then looked at a specific aspect of the painting and recreated that in groups.

Teamwork

As part of our SCARF unit of work, Year 6 had to look at teamwork and what skills are needed to work effectively within a team. The children were set a challenge of constructing a 30cm long bridge, which could allow an object to pass underneath and travel over.

Part whole models

In maths this week, Year one have been learning about part whole models. We have learnt some actions to help us to remember what they represent. We have also used different objects in part whole models. Today we have started to write the part whole model into a number sentence. We have worked really hard on our maths work.

A Walk in the Woods

Year 1 have worked really hard and shown great improvement in their writing this half-term. We began by learning all about sentence structure and then read the story ‘A walk in the woods’, which is a picture book about children walking through the woods as it changes through each season. Through our modelled writing, over the last two weeks, Year 1 have wrote fantastic sentences about animals and nature in Summer, Winter and Spring. Today, Read more

The Little Red Hen

Inside the parcel was all of the ingredients we needed to make some bread. The little red hen was very busy and none of the animals would help him make bread, so the hen asked us to help instead. We followed the recipe for bread and we all Read more
