Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Lent – what do these days mean Christians? Today Year 6 explored the topic of lent, looking in detail at Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and Easter. Space

This half term year 4 will be learning all about space. During today’s lesson our focus question was ‘What are solar and lunar eclipses?’. To help us understand how an eclipse works we went into the playground and worked in groups of 3, with one person playing the role of the Sun, the Moon or the Earth. Pancake day and France

This week we have been learning about France, looking at the language they speak, the food they eat and also landmarks within France. 2D shapes

For forest school we worked in groups to collect sticks then had to make 2D shapes.  We had to follow the clues and work as a team to complete the different challenges like: *How many squares can you make with 12 sticks. *How many triangles can you make with 12 sticks. *Use 12 sticks and make 3 different 2D shapes.

Sun, Earth and the Moon

Today Year 4 started their new Science topic all about space. We made model to show how the Earth orbits the moon and the moon orbits the Earth. We also used Oreo biscuits to help us to understand the phases of the moon. We really enjoyed eating the Oreos after the lesson! We also really enjoyed watching a video all about a solar eclipse.

Mixing, painting and printing 🎨

        In art, we have been improving a range of art skills. Before the half term, we enjoyed mixing shades of paint to make different shades of green. We also enjoyed printing using Lego blocks to make lovely bright patterns and we loved making our own stamps out of foam and paper. We used these stamps to make a collaborative print which included each of our designs.

Random Acts of Kindness 2022

Thursday 17th February was random acts of kindness day. This year our new Anti-bullying/ Kindness ambassadors helped to come up with some ‘Acts of kindness’ ideas that classes could take part in. Each class then chose a random act of kindness to complete.
