Fun with time

We have been practising time today outside in the lovely weather. We have been looking at 5 minute intervals and have been playing lots of games to help us. Throughout the day Mrs Graham has been asking us what the time is.  We are becoming very confident now.

Class reward

We got all 20 marbles so we picked a class reward- Forest school! It was also Miss Jone’s last day 😢 so we had an extra long golden time. For forest school we went on a mini beast hunt and made pictures of mini beasts using twigs, leaves, acorns and flowers. Miss Jones was very kind and got everyone ice pops, crisps and biscuits. The theory of evolution

Today year 5 enjoyed finding out about the theory of evolution as part of their new science topic. First we found the definitions of some new vocabulary hidden outside and we now know the meanings of species, variation, adaptation and evolution. After this we carried out a ‘Battle of the Beaks’ investigation. We used tweezers, pegs and chopsticks as our ‘beaks’ and demonstrated what Charles Darwin found out about how the finches had adapted over Read more

Exploring old toys

This afternoon we have been playing with old fashioned toys as part of our ‘Memory Box’ topic. The children had time to try out each of the toys and figure out how they work. We then discussed how they’re different from our toys at home and which we enjoyed using.

What time is it?

Year 4 Hawthorn have worked extremely hard this week telling the time. They have been recapping telling the time to 5 and 1 minute. We have then started to convert time from a 12 hour clock to a 24 hour clock. We enjoyed some sun yesterday whilst using chalk to draw our clocks. Well done year 4, you should be very proud of yourselves!

Willows Forest School on Friday
