Iron Age Hill Forts

We made Iron Age Hill Forts for our Innovate part of our topic. We used our knowledge about the Iron Age to create our Iron Age Hill Fort. We then compared the Hill Fort to a Stone Age camp to see what the similarities and differences were. We used recycled materials to make roundhouses, campfires and even farm animals. We had lots of fun!

PE Fun

Today Reception have been in the hall doing PE. Everyone has had lots of fun and enjoyed climbing on the apparatus. We have been learning about how to move in different ways along the benches and around the hall. We like to shuffle on our bums! Well Done Reception, you were all excellent in PE today 🙂

French school trip

We have been to French school to learn French, explored Carcassonne and went to Toulouse to a French school to spend the day with the children. Maths Addition and Subtraction

We have been working really hard on addition and subtraction of 1-digit from and to 3-digit numbers. Today we used Base 10 to help support our understanding of exchange and re-grouping. Tomorrow we will be using this knowledge to help us understand column method addition and subtraction.

Bird Feeders

Gardening Club have made some brilliant bird feeders. We will be hanging them up around school. I wonder if you can make a bird feeder for your garden at home? All you need is: a plastic bottle scissors a lolly stick string bird seed

What did they eat in the Bronze Age?

We learnt more about the Bronze Age today. We looked at how bronze was made and what it was used for, and learnt how bronze age homes differed from the stone age. We then discussed how we could find out more about the diets of the Bronze Age people. We worked in pairs to dissect human organic remains to find out what they had eaten – it was really disgusting!

We are archaeologists!

We have been learning lots about prehistoric times in Year Three in our topic for this term – Tribal Tales. We conducted an archaeological dig to find artefacts about the past. We had to guess what they were and say whether we think they came from the Stone Age, Bronze Age or Iron Age!
