Year 1 – Art Week

For this year’s art week theme – The Natural World, Year 1 have studied the artist Andy Goldsworthy, we have collected and remembered facts, looked at his artwork, collaged a fact file and then created our own pieces inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. Transition Day

Today, Year 4 Hawthorn came into Year 5 Pine for transition day. We’ve had a great day getting to know each other better. The children spent time in forest school asking questions about Year 5 and making bird feeders. We created our own poems called ‘I am, I wonder’, designed shields and played some getting to know you games. We’re excited for the year ahead!

Transition Day

Today, Year 4 Maple came up to Year 5 Juniper for their Transition Day. We started the morning writing down any questions we had about the year ahead before we wrote our own poems called ‘I am, I wonder.’ The children produced some lovely work! Art Club Week 4 – Jen Stark inspired beach scene

This week’s Art Club was inspired by contemporary artist Jen Stark. Jen is best known for creating optical art using bright colours in patterns and drips that mimic the intricate motifs found in nature. The children used the drip detailing to create a beach scene. We focused on creativity and colour exploration as well as adding texture through the use of collage. Well done Art club!

This week Year 5 have been learning about the famous impressionist artist, Claude Monet. We have spent time learning facts about his life and his importance in the art world. We discovered that Monet is considered to be one of the founders of the impressionist art movement and one of the most influential painters of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The River Roch

Year 4 went to Queen’s Park today to look at the River Roch as a part of our Geography lesson. We looked at both the physical and human features that we could see along the river. Sports Day

Year 5 had a great time at their sports day yesterday. They worked together in a variety of different sporting challenges, displayed great teamwork and even showed us their competitive sides. Well done to all, the children were great!
