SCARF Workshop

This morning, Year 5 Juniper had a visit from Jess at SCARF to carry out a workshop on friends. They were able to talk about friendships, their importance, and how it is vital to respect each other along with sharing differing opinions and how to handle compromise. Cooking and Nutrition – D&T

Today Year 5 Juniper completed their Design and Technology unit on cooking and nutrition. Throughout this topic we have looked at how food goes from farm to fork, what nutritional information is and designed our own labels. The last step was to prepare the food and cook it together. Design Technology – Cooking and nutrition

Today, we finished our cooking and nutrition Design Technology unit. The children worked in groups to prepare our ingredients. We discussed how to handle food, food hygiene and different methods for chopping the ingredients. We then went into the forest school area to cook our spaghetti bolognese. Art Club – Week 5 Glitch effect

This week in Art Club we had fun trying to recreate a glitch effect in our artwork. The children started by drawing a skull, which we then decorated using red and blue pens to create the effect. This was much trickier than it seems and the children worked really hard to concentrate on getting the red and blue colours to ‘glitch’. Art Week Year 2 Elm

This week has been arts week and we have learning about Artist David Hockney. We created a fact page about him, drew a picture of his famous Garrowby Hill and then coloured in pictures of his artwork using the computer.

Van Gogh inspired sunflowers – Art Week Fun

This week has been Art Week, and we’ve taken inspiration from Vincent van Gogh’s famous Sunflowers artwork. We explored different styles of sunflowers through sketching and drawing, and then brought our creations to life using a variety of colouring mediums. These included felt tips, oil pastels, watercolours, and pencil crayons. It’s been a creative, colourful, and inspiring week!

This week, Year 5 have enjoyed learning about the artist Claude Monet. We spent time researching the artist to learn lots about him and understand the importance of his art pieces. We learnt about his life as an artist, how he took up the career, and how he was thought to be one of the founders of impressionist art.
