RE- The Prodigal Son
We have been exploring the Bible story The Prodigal Son. Afterward, we took part in an acting activity to express how the characters might feel at various moments in the story. Finally, we created a freeze frame to capture key scenes.

Self Portraits
Year 5 have been continuing our art topic by creating our own self portraits. The children spent the afternoon experimenting with different materials and techniques. They applied the knowledge and skills that they have worked on throughout the unit to create a mixed media self-portrait. The children used oil pastels, photographs, carbon copy paper, felt tips, pencil crayons and tracing paper to create their masterpieces. Next week we will complete our final pieces. Year 1 Willows Shared Learning
Thank you to all the parents/carers who came to our shared learning today. The children loved demonstrating our knowledge of seasons, singing our seasons song to you, and having your support in writing sentences.

Stranger Danger
Today, the whole school completed an assembly on stranger danger. The assembly focussed on helping children to understand what a stranger is, how to recognise unsafe situations, and what to do if they ever feel worried or unsure. Today, Year 5 were able to take part in a workshop about road safety. The children were able to go outside with two visitors working with Greater Manchester Police to talk about road safety and how we can stay safe near the roads. Saving Slums
In Geography this half term, Year 5 have been focusing on slums – particularly Dharavi in Mumbai, India and Rocinha in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Today, we working in groups to figure out what were the biggest challenges faced by people living in slums – sanitation, education, crime, jobs, health and housing. In this lesson, the children acted out the story of the Prodigal Son. They took turns playing the son, the father, and other characters, showing what happened when the son left home, spent all his money, and came back. Forest school!
We had another great week in Forest School with Miss Brown! This week we made s’mores! So yummy and tasty. We talked about fire safety and being sensible around her fire. We absolutely loved jumping in the muddy puddles with our friends! We worked in teams to help each other create the s’mores and also support our friends to jump in the puddles!
