Deaf Awareness Week in Year 1

This week the whole school took part in an assembly celebrating deaf awareness week. We learnt about what it means to be deaf, causes, how they communicate, what they may use/do to support them and what we can do to help. Year 3 visit to Church

Year 3 visited St.Luke’s Church to take part in a Easter and Pentecostal experience. The children listened to the Easter story and then moved around the church in groups to take part in different activities- each activity looked deeper into the journey of Easter Sunday when Jesus rose again and Pentecost. The children had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Year 1 Art Workshop

In Art this half-term, Year 1 are looking at different forms of art including various types of crafts. Forest art

The children enjoyed exploring nature and producing some fantastic art. They found a stick and practised measuring lengths of wool. The children then practised tying knots to fasten the wool onto the stick. The children showed fantastic resilience and didn’t give up. They are going to use their creations as part of a weaving project in art lessons.

The Storm Whale

In our English lessons this half-term, Year 1 have been completing writing based on the book ‘The Storm Whale’ by Benji Davies. As part of our learning, we used the immersive room to experience being on a boat in a storm and we used plot point images to act out the story. The children have produced some fantastic writing including lots of exciting verbs and adjectives, and even similes.  

Rock n Roll

This half term in Year 4, our new topic for music is Rock n Roll! last week we learnt the famous Hand Jive and this week we have learnt the lyrics to Rock Around the clock whilst also incorporating some of our moves learnt from the Hand Jive! We have loving our topic so far!  

Fun Maths Roadshow

Juniper have thoroughly enjoyed our Fun Maths Roadshow today. What excellent use they have made of their maths skills. Everyone worked really hard to complete as many investigations as they could. There was some great application of maths skills and fantastic teamwork, wonderful shows of resilience and all round enjoyment of maths. Well done everyone!!!

Maths carousel – Year 4

This morning we were very fortunate to take part in a maths carousel in the hall with Mrs Grindrod and the Year 5 children. We were able to complete a wide variety of maths challenges within an allotted time. We used our mathematical knowledge to completed the questions. We thoroughly enjoyed working with some of the older children who were our coaches at different activities.
