This half term we are learning all about fairy tales and the areas in the classroom have changed to make them all about fair tales. Jorvik Viking Centre Class Trip

This half term Year 4 will be learning all about the history of Vikings so this week we had the chance to visit the Jorvik Viking Centre in York. The children were able to take a ride back in time to experience the sights, sounds and smells of Viking-age York. Moth Artwork

This week, Year 5 have started a writing unit of work based on the book ‘Moth’ by Isabel Thomas. The book is a narrative poem telling the story of natural selection and evolution using the peppered moth. The children have enjoyed being immersed into the book and learning about the peppered moth and how their wings have adapted over time. Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school, we hope you had a lovely break 🙂   We have been doing lots of lovely things today, including looking at our new book ‘The Queen’s Hat’. We asked the Queen lots of questions about her life and how she felt when she lost her hat. The children really wanted to try her hat on so we had lots of fun giggling at us wearing it!  

Easter

We’ve had a busy few weeks leading up to Easter.  In RE we have been learning about Lent, Palm Sunday, and the Easter story.  The last week we retold the Easter story in our own words. Unfortunately, due to the weather, we couldn’t go outside to create the original Easter cards we wanted or to do our Easter egg hunt. Spelling Bee

Over the last few weeks, Year 6 have been working extremely hard in all topics. One area in particular that they have been focusing on, is their spellings. They have been practising all spellings from the year 3,4,5 and 6 list via the use of games. Today, both classes played a game to test their spelling knowledge. Energy!

This half term, in Science, Year 6 have been focusing on the topic Energy. We have been exploring what energy is, how it is stored and how it can be transferred from one store to another. The children have focused their learning on different equation to work out efficiency, power ratings and speed. Easter

This week we have read the Easter story and learnt all about Jesus during good Friday and Easter Sunday. We have done lots of different activities to celebrate Easter and also created our own palm leaves. We did an Easter picture hunt and ticked our findings on our sheets and even make our own chocolate cakes to take home. Migration

This half term Maple have been learning all about Migration in Geography. We’ve learnt about why people migrate and how this affects people and places. We’ve investigated some of the push and pull factors that cause people to leave particular countries and the reasons for why they might stay in a particular country.
