Random Act Of Kindness

Today is National Random Act of Kindness! Year 4 Hawthorn decided to create crafts to place in the park to bring joy and hopefully make people smile.   whilst at the park we also enjoyed our end of half term Dojo treat for reaching our target! ART – Sculptures and 3D : making memories

Over the last half term, Year 6 have focused on different artists and used their work as inspiration to complete their own memories box and 3D sculptures of their sentimental items. The children have carefully designed and planned their boxes and sculptures and consider the best materials and methods to decorate and make their own replic items. The results are amazing; well done Year 6.

Shadow sculptures

During art last week, we created some shadow sculptures- although we had to improve as we had no sun outside! We used words that describe a good friend. the children work in pairs to create their sculptures. We have really enjoyed our topic for art this half term!

DT – Come dine with me

    As part of our D&T topic, Year 6 had to research, design and cook a healthy, budget-friendly three-course meal. We chose bruschetta, with tomatoes and cheese, to start, chicken fajitas for the main course, and healthy fruit kebabs for dessert. Nth Term

As part of our route in algebra, Year 6 began to explore nth term and how can use our times table knowledge to help. We explored linear sequences, changing the number we start counting from and how nth term can be seen as our times tables, but adjusted in terms of where we start from.

Algebra in the workplace

As part of our algebra lesson on ‘finding the rule’, we looked at how we can create algebraic rules and formulae to solve real world problems. We looked at how we can help create football tables, including writing rules and formulae, to total points, games played and goal difference. Pancake Day

On Tuesday we celebrated Pancake Day. We discussed the significance of Pancake Day on the lead up to lent. We tried lots of different toppings and decided which one was our favourite. The chocolate spread was a clear winner. Yummy!

Random Acts of Kindness at Springbank Carehome

This week, St Luke’s are celebrating Random acts of Kindness day. As part of the activities, we decided to spread kindness to our linked care-home Springbank. Some children from KS2, selected for excellent behaviour and attitudes to learning this half-term, attended the care-home to have ‘a cake and a chat’ afternoon with the residents.
