This week we have been inspired by Damien Hirst’s skull art works and other examples of decorated skulls in different cultures. We traced over an image of a skull and then decorated it using pastels and patterns of our choice. They look amazing: Once we had finished we walked around the classroom to look at all the different pieces of art, then we gave feedback about which ones we liked and why.
This week when we arrived at school we had a letter at the front office. When we opened the letter it was from The Evil Pea. The Evil Pea had captured all the fruit and vegetables in our classroom and taped them to the floor. For our new art topic, we are looking at ‘Human form’. Our first lesson was human alphabet. We have been creating letters with our body. We worked with a partner or in a 3 to create the different letters.
Our new topic in Art is Photography. today the children looked at various examples of work from other artists: ‘Peter Kennard’ and Jerry Uelsmann’. The children eventually created a photo montage using secondary source photographs. They did a brilliant job and their personalities really shone through their work.
Today Year 6 started their new topic in Science – Heat. First the children recapped prior learning all about states of matter and how particles behave. Through drama, the children demonstrated the behaviour of particles before they started to learn about the effectives of heat on the particles as they change state. We have enjoyed being in school this week after being at home over the school holidays. We have been super busy doing lots of phonics and maths work this week and to finish off the week we took part in our P.E lesson. Year 3 have been learning how to delightful desserts which uses food based around seasons foods. Here are some pictures of our crumble.
Each day we have been able to choose a gift from under the tree. Each gift has been a different book and Miss Longmire and Miss Robinson have read the Christmas story at the end of the day. We have loved listening to each story and are really excited for Christmas.
This week we have been super busy in Bluebells. We had our own Christmas party and a special guest arrived. Elsa from frozen came to join in the party fun and we loved dancing with her. We then played lots of games like musical statues, corners and pass the parcel. We finished off the afternoon with some party food and listened to Christmas music. We want it to be Christmas party day everyday!
