We have had a lots of fun this week learning about 2D and 3D shapes. To help learn the different properties we drew around 2D shapes using different colours. We then looked at how many vertices 2D shapes have by using string to make each shape and how many fingers it took to make the vertices. We have also been trying to drawing 2D shapes accurately using a ruler.
This week in Forest School, Snowdrops made a fire with the support of an adult. They were shown how to use a fire starter and taught how to be safe around the fire. The children loved sitting around the fire, singing our nativity songs and roasting marshmallows! All of the children had a fantastic time and expressed how yummy the s’mores were. Juniper have been to church this morning for their Christingle celebration. They were all absolutely amazing! Fantastic singing and actions during our performance and they were all a credit to the school. Well done everyone!
This week we celebrated christmas with our Christingle service. Thank you to all those that were able to join us.
Today, we celebrated Christmas jumper day and Christmas dinner day with our classmates. We listened to festive music and made Christmas puddings for placemats.
Today Year 1 learnt all about Christingle, including how it began and what each part of the Christingle represents. They then made their own to take home.
This week in RE Year 5 have been discussing what it means to be generous. We listened to the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus and discussed how Jesus was able to turn Zacchaeus into a generous person. The children discussed how generosity isn’t just amount how much money a person can give but is also about time, kindness, love etc. The children then created their own posters showing what generosity means to them.
This week was our last week for Cookery Club so we’ve ended with a Christmas Rocky Road. This was really easy and lots of fun to make and of course tasted delicious. The children enjoyed sampling the sweets and chocolates whilst they were making the rocky road too.
As last years home experiments were so popular, we have decided to do them again. Over the next few weeks, we will be posting different experiments on the blog that you can do at home with your parents or carers.
