We learnt about different precious items that Jewish people have in their homes. We listened to a little boy on a video who told us all about his religion. We then had a look at pictures of these precious items and tried to remember why they were precious and what they were used for.
We are already loving our new planting topic. We went up to Kaden’s Garden to do some planting in the sunshine.

This half term in Science Juniper are learning about how humans and animals have changed over time. Yesterday we were introduced to Charles Darwin and his theories. This week in Guided Reading, we began our new book ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. The children were really excited to begin this story. They have been fantastic at answering prediction, retrieval, inference and grammar questions about the pages they have read so far. Some children have also been adding to our ‘reading river’ this week. On which, they review books they have read for pleasure and recommend them to other children in the class.
This week we have been learning about The Gingerbread Man story. We have been designing our own gingerbread, making one in the play dough area and acting out the story. We have started our new art topic this week- Map it out. For our first lesson we have been investigating maps as a stimulus for drawing. During our Science adaptation lesson, we completed different investigations to answer the following questions- Why do some animals have blubber? Why do birds have different shaped beaks? How do birds stay dry? Why do some animals have webbed feet? How do larger feet help in the snow?
Year 6 really enjoyed their first rugby session with Carl and Max from Mayfield Rugby Club. The children worked really hard and played different games focusing on teamwork, reactions and communication. They then progressed onto looking at how to correctly hold and throw the rugby ball. The children are really excited for their next session.
During our Learning for Life lesson, children started a class discussion by sharing different emotions that they had felt today. Children were able to explore appropriate vocabulary related to emotions by playing ‘Emotions Bingo’ and describe the intensity of emotions by completing the ‘Emotions Synonyms’ activity.
