Year 3 have been working on their cutting and peeling skills today but making an apple and berry crumble. We enjoyed making and more importantly eating our creation. Here are some pictures from our learning.
This half term the children in Juniper are learning how to play a brass instrument. The music teacher has been very impressed with the children’s use of tempo and rhythm. They have all learnt how to play different notes with their instrument and will hopefully be able to play a tune by Christmas!
Year 1 loved going on the iPads today to play with Numbots. They took it in turns to use the iPad and helped each other out when they got stuck. Well done Oaks!
Yesterday, our Science Ambassadors took part in the Ogden Trust science event where they completed two challenges towards The Crest Awards. The children had to work collaboratively with other schools to investigate and complete both challenges. The children will be completing eight challenges over the year to achieve the Crest Award. Well done to all children involved your worked very hard.
In science this week, Year 5 have been learning about physical changes. The children learnt a song to remind them that physical changes are when a substance changes shape, form or state. We learnt that this is usually reversible. The children used their observation skills to record what happens during several physical changes such as: paper being torn, ice melting, chocolate melting and hot chocolate dissolving in water. The ethos team did a fantastic job of delivering collective worship for the whole school. They retold the story of ‘The Good Samaritan’ and spoke about the moral of the story. This week, Year 2 are starting to write a new story called ‘A Christmas Star’. The writing will be based on a BBC Christmas advert. This half-term, Year 2 are working with clay in Art. In our first lesson, we explored the Clay by experimenting with tools to make marks, shaping the clay with our hands and then making a model of our choice. In the following lesson, we created ‘pinch pots’ and added our own designs by using tools to make patterns or adding other shaped pieces of clay. We had lots of fun experimenting and exploring with clay!
