Creating pictures

For computing we have been using 2paint a picture to create different pictures using different styles.  We have been looking at impressionism and pointillist styles then creating our own pictures.  We linked it to our Art topic on Superheroes.  We created pictures of superheroes using the pointillist template:

Little Red Riding Hood

For our new text for English, we have been looking at Little Red Riding hood. This week we have been retelling the story in our own words. Porridge Tasting

This week we have been looking at Goldilocks and the Three Bears. This afternoon we have been taste testing different flavours of porridge. We discussed which flavours and toppings Goldilocks would like and then we tried the different ones for ourself. We tried plain porridge, porridge with jam, porridge with chocolate and porridge with lemon. Everyone then discussed how we could describe the different porridges. Effective Searching

This afternoon we have been learning about how to carry out effective searches using the internet. We worked together as a class to find the answers to some simple questions. We investigated how searches, which are not clear enough, result in us finding the wrong information. The children then worked independently to find the answers to the questions given using search queries techniques.

Marvellous maths

  In year one, we we have started learning about Division. We used key words such as share, equal, group, different and altogether to describe and explain how we were grouping objects. We investigated how many ways they could share a number of objects in to different equal groups. It was lots of fun!  

The Three Little Pigs

This week we have been reading the story ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We started the week off by reading the story and talked about the different characters from the story. In our topic afternoon we talked about the different materials used to build the pig’s houses and discussed the properties of them. Crazy Creatures visit Year 5

This week Year 5 have had a special visit from Emma and her crazy creatures. As our current Science topic is ‘Humans and animals overtime’, Emma came to not only to show us her fantastic animals, but also to teach us some amazing facts about them, including their animal kingdoms, their evolution, their food chains and much more. Evolution

Year 5 have made a fantastic start to their Science topic ‘Humans and animals overtime’. So far we have learnt: the theory of evolution and how it was discovered, how fossils are formed and provide evidence of evolution and animal kingdoms and how they have developed overtime. Materials

We have started our new science topic ‘Changing materials’. We have been looking at the different properties of materials. We used objects in our classroom to describe different properties of fabric, glass, wood, paper and metal.  

Fairy tales

This half term we are learning all about fairy tales and the areas in the classroom have changed to make them all about fair tales.
