In Geography we have been using the atlases to locate rivers in the UK. They all worked really hard and did a super job!

Penguin Planning!
We looked at how to effectively create non fiction shapes and map out an information text about the Penguins of Antarctica. We we used images to summarise each paragraph and then used shapes to break each individual paragraph down into smaller chunks. When we we come to write a text about our own animal next week, we will be able to apply the shapes to any of our information texts.

Year 6 had the chance to investigate how icebergs are formed, where they are found and the impact they can have, such as in the story of the Titanic. Year 5 Pine have worked hard this afternoon. First they told me what they had been doing at home with remote learning and lots of children could tell me lots about the solar system already. This we have been learning about the role of a historian and had the chance to be a historian. We worked with Stone Age artefacts and used our knowledge of the Stone Age to work out what the artefacts were are what they were made out of. Here are some pictures of our work.

Children In Need 2020
This week, the whole school have been helping to raise money for Children In Need. Each class have been completing the ‘Act Your Age’ challenge in their PE lessons with our PE coach Mr Tomkins, and today came to school in their pyjamas. Reception - Bluebells
Children in need
We have had lots of fun in our pyjamas today for children in need and hope we have raised lots of money. In the classroom we coloured in pudsey bears and made our very own pudsey ears. It has been a very busy day and we are all very tired. We don’t even need to get ready for bed now we can just jump in and go to sleep 😴 💤
Geography
Winding Rivers
Maple have been to visit the River Roch in Queens Park today. The children carried out an investigation to see how fast the river was flowing. We then spotted signs of pollution in the river and some local wildlife. The children found examples of erosion and deposition along the river and also some meanders. Tomorrow we are going to find out more about the history of the River Roch.
