DT – Windmills

This half term we have created our own windmills during our DT lessons. We have thought about stable structures and how the sails would move in and out of class. We had to practice careful cutting and designing and also testing our windmills to make sure they were fit for purpose .

Forest School

We have been so lucky to enjoy another half term of forest school with Miss Brown this half term. We have worked on lots of our skills during the sessions which also link to our skills Builder skill each half term..

Irreversible changes!

In our science topic this half term, Year 5 have been looking at the properties of materials. In our final lesson of the topic today, we carried out an experiment to see if we could create an irreversible change and create a new material. We filled plastic bottles with different amounts of vinegar, before securing a balloon to the top of the bottle which contained bicarbonate of soda. As the bicarbonate of soda mixed in Read more

Irreversible changes

Pine have been investigating irreversible changes this morning. We planned an experiment to answer the question: Does the amount of vinegar affect the amount of new material (gas) created? We put different amounts of vinegar into 5 separate bottles. We filled 5 balloons with the same amount of bicarbonate of soda. We then attached the balloons to the bottles, mixing the vinegar and bicarbonate together. This caused an irreversible change and created gas within the Read more
