FANTASTICS

During our English lessons we have been looking at Aladdin. Today the children imagined how Aladdin would feel when he was trapped underground whilst looking for the lamp. We used the fantastic grid to help us. We walked around the classroom, listening to dramatic music. We looked at dramatic phrases and decided where they would go on our fantastic grid.

Practical maths- addition

This week, Year have begun to add number to 10. We have completed lots of practical lessons so far to help children begin to understand this concept. Children have worked hard to use number lines, manipulatives and counting on to help them..

Science- building things and Skills Builder

During our science lesson, we created walls for the classroom in a rainforest using a different range of materials to see if they are waterproof. We worked in teams and listened to one another to build the walls. We also thought about which jobs would help us build walls in the real world. We were all builders and some architects! The children did a great job creating their walls and had great fun!

Stable Structures

This half term in Year 4, our DT topic is Structures: Pavilions. In our first lesson we have been exploring different frame structures to test which are the most stable, using toothpicks and sweets. Electrical Systems

This afternoon, Year 5 Juniper have started their new Design and Technology unit – Electrical Systems: Doodlers. For today’s lesson, the children looked at the different components that create a simple circuit. They were able to identify crocodile wires, batteries, bulbs and motors.
