Craft club

Arts and Craft Club was an extra-curricular opportunity for our Year 5 and 6 pupils that brings together Art and Design Technology! Thermal conductivity experiment!

In our science topic, we have been looking at properties and changes. Year 5 carried out an experiment to test thermal conductivity. The children had 4 cups per group and wrapped each one in a different material – aluminium foil, bubble wrap and newspaper. Creating our own doodlers!

Following on in our design and technology unit, this week Year 5 Juniper designed and created their own doodlers! They were able to create their design in their books and decide what components they needed to use, where to place them, and what pattern they would like to put on their cups. Rochdale Bowling Competition Winners!

Congratulations to the four pupils that represented our school at the Rochdale tenpin bowling competition. They had an excellent time, averaging a score of 89 as a team, which was enough to win the competition against 17 other schools. A huge well done to Isabelle and Jacob, who scored over 100 each, receiving a certificate for being in the “100 club”,  

Business Club

Well done to those children who are part of our business club this half term. This week, they began to design and create the products and games they will be selling at our Christmas Fair. From bracelets and sweet cones, to decorations and target games, there is something for everyone. Crossing the Line

Year 6 have had the opportunity to watch the ‘Crossing the Line’ video and monologue, which explore the issues young people face with regards to county lines.   The children watch a video before completing activities provided, which helps explore everything from unfamiliar vocabulary and terms used, danger signs to look out for, and strategies to spot danger and keep ourselves safe. Ethos Team

Angels at Christmas

This week Year 5 have been thinking about angels and the role they play in the Christmas story. Christians believe that angels are God’s special messengers and, in the Christmas story, angels bring special messages to various people. Conductivity

In Science today the children have carried out an experiment to determine the conductivity of different materials and link this to their uses. They wrote a detailed, organised method to follow, including variables, measurement, equipment and safety.
