Science in Forest School

This half term in Science, we are exploring particles and chemical reactions, so Miss Brown planned a series of hands-on investigations during Forest School. Some of the children practised using flint and steel to start a fire before discussing the different materials we had collected and how quickly each might burn—or whether it would change at all. We tested sponges, hay, paper, cardboard, and metal. The children observed that burning paper undergoes a combustion reaction, Read more

Incarnation.

This week in RE, Year 6 revisited the Nativity story. The children compared several different accounts, identified key differences, and explored how these contrasting versions contribute to a deeper understanding of the story. We then moved on to the concept of incarnation, discussing its meaning in depth and considering why it is central to Christian belief. The class reflected on how the idea of God becoming human links directly to the Christmas story and why Read more

Interfaith week 2025!

Interfaith Week is all about: Building respect between people of different faiths Celebrating similarities and differences Encouraging curiosity, kindness, and open conversations Learning how different beliefs contribute to our shared world We created trees which included root values which are importantly beliefs and principles lots of people can live by. We then wrote positive actions which demonstrate root values.

Building Things!

This half term during science lessons, we have been learning about materials and their properties to see which materials would make the best wall to use within a rainforest. The children have worked together to build the walls and we have then conducted experiments, first predicting which materials would be best and then completed the experiments to see which materials are the strongest and which materials are waterproof.

Measure – Area

We started a new unit in our Maths lessons today, learning about how to find the area of a shape. We talked about how the area of a shape is the name we give to the space it takes up. The larger the shape, the larger it’s area. We used counters the measure the area of different shapes.

The Blues

Our music topic this half term is looking at Blues music. In our first lesson last week, we discovered blues music and were able to listen to a few different examples, learn where blues music originated from and the instruments used. Today, in lesson 2, we were able to begin learning our 12 bar blues on the glockenspiel. The children did a fabulous job and sounded fantastic!

Meet the Doodlers

In our DT lesson this week, Juniper met the doodlers for the first time! The doodlers are an electrical system involving a paper cup, felt tip pens, batteries, a motor crocodile wires, tape and a hot glue gun stick. The children were able to see the doodlers in action, before taking them apart and seeing if they could successfully rebuild them! We also were able to discuss different items we could use on the doodlers Read more
