Black History Month

This week we have been celebrating black history month by reading the book “I love my hair”. We have been discussing different hair types and how they are all unique and beautiful. We discussed what we love about our own hair, what it looks like and how we look after it. Buttercups had fun exploring the hair braiding table, where they looked through pictures of various hairstyles and browsed books for inspiration. They eagerly searched Read more

Beatriz Milhazes Collage Creations

This half term, Year 4 explored the vibrant world of Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes. We studied her bold, colourful artwork and discussed how she uses shape, pattern, and repetition to create movement and rhythm in her designs. We carefully overlapped shapes to build texture and depth, thinking about how different colours and patterns work together. We also focused on proportion and Read more

Artist

In our Art lessons, we have been learning about the artist Romare Bearden. We explored a variety of his artistic styles and then created our own picture of a guitar, inspired by his connection to jazz music. Afterwards, we made an artist page all about Romare Bearden, including interesting facts about his life, images of his work, and coloured versions of some of his artwork.

Forest School fun

This afternoon was our final forest school session. We had a brilliant afternoon making s’mores, building dens and making medallion necklaces. Well done Year 5 for your excellent behaviour and your whole class dojo!

Hello Yellow Day

On Hello Yellow Day, we had a fantastic time learning about the 5 Ways to Wellbeing – Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning, and Give. We came dressed in yellow to show support, and we also raised money for charity through donations. Throughout the day, we took Read more

Forest School Weather

We have loved taking our Geography learning about weather outdoors into our Forest school lessons. Take a look at our lesson about wind, in which we made wind-catchers, and our lesson on rain, in which we made umbrellas. We are really enjoying our outdoor learning!

Hello Yellow

Today, the whole school celebrated Hello Yellow to raise money for the amazing Children’s Mental Health Charity. All classes talked about the importance of good mental health and well-being, and what we can do to maintain good mental health. Each class reminded themselves of the 5 Ways To Wellbeing- connect, be active, keep learning, take notice, give- and completed activities based around these. Thank you to everyone who donated.
