Random Acts Of Kindness Day 2023

Today, the whole school celebrated ‘Random Acts Of Kindness Day’. Each class decided on an act of kindness that they would like to do for others. Adverbs

Juniper have been classifying adverbs this morning according to ‘where’, ‘how’, ‘when’ or ‘how much’. They then chose five of their adverbs to write complex sentences with. To finish, they tested their knowledge of adverbs by answering some SATs style questions. Well done everyone!

Keeping Safe Online

This week we have been learning about being safe online. We have discussed when we should use our iPads, mobile phones and computers. Then we discussed what we should do if something happened while we were using it. Jessie and her friends, taught us a song to help us. We need to make sure we tell an adult who we trust!

Investigating magnets

In Science, Year 5 Pine enjoyed investigating magnets. First we recapped prior learning and sorted objects into magnetic, not magnetic and magnets. We discussed how we can turn magnetic materials into magnets but also looked at how magnetic materials behave differently to magnets. The children enjoyed working in groups to carry out different practical activities.

Safer internet day

Year 5 Pine took part in a live lesson for safer internet day. We recapped the rules about keeping safe online. The children discussed how to communicate safely online and we discussed how we would deal with several online dilemmas. The children the invented their own character for the digital defence squad. Each character had a job to help protect us online.

Well-being in the woods

On Friday, the children were wearing their clothes inside and we discussed how people can sometimes feel differently on the inside to how they seem on the outside. In Forest School, we recapped the 5 ways to well-being: get active, take notice, learn something new, connect with others and give.
