We did really well chopping and peeling the vegetables using the equipment. They learned some chopping techniques and how to hold the food still so they didn’t cut their fingers. The claw grip and bridge grip were used to help with this. Well done Year 3!
Our school nurse came into school to talk to us about healthy eating. She was really impressed with our knowledge so far that we have been learning in Science and Design & Technology. We looked at how much sugar is in different drinks then we had to guess how many Read more…
This half term Year 5 are going to be creating ‘doodlers’ using a motorised circuit. We have identified the different components and investigated how to create a simple series circuit. The children had lots of fun when they were able to power their fans.
This half term in Year 4 our DT topic is Structure. In our first lesson we have been exploring different frame structures to test which are the most stable using toothpicks and sweets. We made basic geometric structures and then created larger structures considering strength and stability.
As Year 1 received over 500 dojos last half-term, they were rewarded with a special treat day. We took part in a carousel of activities which included creating leaf pictures, watching something fun and decorations biscuits (and eating them of course!) Miss Lomax, Mrs Asif and all the year 1 Read more…
This week we made some sweet puff pastry tarts. Children were able to cut out the shapes they wanted and filled the puff pastry with sweet treats which we hen cooked in the air fryers. We certainly have some budding chefs on our hands as children have created some of Read more…
This afternoon, we started a new project in our DT lesson. It is a create and design project with the royal Opera House based around ‘The Magic Flute’. We spent the lesson discussing: * What is opera? * What is a set designer * Our design brief * Items we Read more…
We had lots of fun in forest school last week. To link with our new science topic ‘Animals’, we created animals with clay and natural materials, searched for mini-beasts, completed mud paintings and had lots of fun exploring and climbing trees. It was lovely to see such an improvement in Read more…
The Digital leader had a fantastic opportunity to explore how to merge Computing, Design Technology and Science in an extremely fun and creative way. After learning how to connect the microcontroller by creating an electric circuit, the children then wrote programs using the free software (a block based language, similar Read more…
