Rounding

During maths lessons this week with have been looking at rounding to the nearest 100 and 1000. We struggled slightly with rounding to the nearest 100 so during Fridays lesson we played lots of games to make sure we were secure before moving on to the next lesson.

Greater than, less than

Teach active Maths

During our Maths lesson, we took part in a competition to see which group could answer the questions the quickest. We were practicing adding and taking 1000 from a given number. The children had to match the question to the correct answer by run in as fast as they could Read more

Length and Height

In this lesson, children estimated and measured a range of objects, using metres as a unit of measurement. They measured things outside in the playground and around their classrooms. They then went into the hall and measured from one side to the other.    

Tens and ones

Year 1, have been learning about ‘teen’ numbers. To help us understand, we have been using tens frames to learn about ‘tens’ and ‘ones’. The children worked really hard during their practical lesson and have shown great understanding.

Fractions of amounts

Wow, what a great maths lesson today!!! The children used their prior knowledge of times and division tables to work out fractions of amounts. Snowman Maths! ☃️

For a Christmas maths activity – we created snowmen using a number of different rules. Working in pairs we had a race to create a maths snowman! A great way to practice our square numbers relating to our numbersense work and recapping some of our other multiplication facts!
