This week is Careers Week at St Luke’s with a focus on engineering and in Pine today we have been looking into the life of Mae Jemison – the first African-American black woman to become an astronaut. During our lesson we held a press conference for Mae. Children took on the role of being Mae Jemison and answered questions from other class members. The children displayed some excellent confident formal speaking and asked some fantastic questions – Why is engineering important in space? What skills do you need to be successful?
