Fabulous Fractions

This week Maple have been learning about fractions. We began by using fraction walls and our times tables to recognise equivalent fractions. We then used this knowledge to help to simplify fractions. Safer Internet Day

Sentence work

Maple have been learning about main and subordinate clauses this morning. We worked hard on identifying each one and moving the clauses around to make new sentences. We tried really hard to punctuate our sentences correctly, and even linked them to our cross curricular writing about ‘The Water Cycle’.

Playground Games

This afternoon in art, Maple have been discussing the painting ‘Children’s Games’ by Pieter Bruegel, created in 1560. We looked very closely at the painting to see what sort of games children played all that time ago. We then went outside to recreate some of the games ourselves!

Spreadsheets

Maple have been working on producing spreadsheets on their laptops this afternoon. We inputted some data and used to 2calulate to produce some line graphs and bar charts. We used the graphs to answer questions about the data.
