Year 4, 5 and 6 have had a fantastic day of prayer and reflection. The children completed a range of different activities, which prompted thought-provoking discussions. During our Art lesson this week we looked at making different shades and tones. We made different shades by adding black to a colour and different tints by adding white to a colour. Next half term we will be using this skill when creating paintings.

During our art lesson this week the children worked collaboratively to develop drawings into prints. They had a range of items to print with including polystyrene sheets, leaves, wool, toy cogs and bubble wrap. They could choose to make their work abstract or figurative (something recognisable.)
We were very lucky today as Touchstones came into our school and delivered a workshop all about the Romans. We learnt facts, tried on armour and togas and made our own Roman banners. We also put on special gloves and handled some Roman coins.
We have had a fantastic first day. During English lessons this term we will be looking at the BFG by Roald Dahl. Today we started to read the story, made dream catchers, drew pictures of the BFG and we wrote synonyms for some of the BFG’s ‘muddled up’ words.
