Today, Hawthorn really enjoyed experimenting with different ingredients to see how they reacted together. They worked scientifically in groups to set up simple practical enquires and report our findings. Well done!
Maple have been busy making potions this afternoon. We’ve been making scientific observations and asking questions about what we’ve seen. We all got a shock when we mixed vinegar with bicarbonate of soda, looked puzzled when we stirred water and oil together and were amazed when we looked at how mentos reacted with some lemonade.
Year 5 had a fantastic time on their first forest school session today. We explored the area and discussed the flora and fauna in the area and completed a scavenger hunt. After this, our skill activity this week was using a bow saw and drill to create a forest school medallion. All the children completed this safely. This half term Reception are taking part in forest school each Monday. We had so much fun, we completed a hunt to explore our forest area, made forest school medals (even drilling our own holes!) and at the end we had a fire and toasted marshmallows! We have had lots of fun this week making our Easter cards. We used nature to help to decorate them. We had lots of fun in the sun collecting flowers, sticks, grass and leaves. This week year 3 have been enjoying the sunshine and planting some spinoff to celebrate Spring. in our R.E lessons we have been looking at trust and how we can trust each other and how we trust in the world.
This week we have been celebrating Easter. We have had lots of fun and completed lots of different activities. We have been decorating eggs, Easter baskets and colouring in egg notepads. Due to a fantastic return to school this half-term, Year 5 were treated to a fun day. Easter colouring, making cards, an Easter egg hunt and a special visitor called Roxy (Mrs Steele’s dog) We finished the day with some party food and a film for all those children who have missed out on birthday parties this term.
