World Book Day 2019

We have had lots of fun on world book day today including sharing information about our favourite books, book swap, listening to a story during our brunch and writing a description of a mythical beast with support from an author,s video. World Book Day 📚

Well done to everyone for dressing up today for World Book Day. Everyone looked amazing! This morning we had a few parents come in to read with the children. Thank you for taking the time to read to us, all of the children really enjoyed it! We have been doing lots of reading today and we have enjoyed sharing our favourite books!  

Greek Myths Performance

Today we had lots of fun watching a company who came in to perform a Greek Myth for us. Their version made us laugh a lot and helped us to really understand the myth. We also worked in groups with the actors at various points throughout to check our understanding of what had happened so far and discuss key events and dates.

Pancake Day

We have been learning about ‘Pancake Day’ today. To celebrate pancake day we have taste tested different pancake toppings. Firstly we tried a savoury pancake, which was cheese. We rolled it up and tasted it. 19 children thought it was yummy but 10 children didn’t like the cheese topping. We then tasted lemon and sugar on a pancake. 23 children enjoyed this one! Arts Week – The Creation Story

For Arts week, Year 6 looked at the 7th day…the day God rested. To help with this, we created images of peaceful settings such as waterfalls, beaches and Space, and used these to inspire our own guided meditations, which included the use of imperative verbs and symbolism.   We wrote the meditations in publisher and looked at how we could use different tools to place our meditation scripts over peaceful images.
