We took part in collective worship led by the Digital Leaders about Safer Internet Day. This year’s theme was “Smart Tech, Safe Choices – Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of AI.” In class, we then completed a lesson to learn more about artificial intelligence (AI). Scientific Enquiry Project

Some year 5 children have continued their journey with other Rochdale schools, working scientifically to identify a problem within our local community that we can solve through scientific enquiry. The session took place at Rochdale Town Hall and began with a guest speaker from Cambridge University who spoke with the children about his work and offered an insight into identifying environmental problems that could be solved through investigation. Textiles

This week in DT, we have been designing and making a small cushion / key ring. The children have really enjoyed practising using a needle and thread. They have really impressed us with their resilience, their willingness to help each other and not to mention their fantastic sewing skills!

Science experiment

In science, Year 3 have been learning all about rocks, soils and fossils. For this lesson, the children were working scientifically to investigate which materials, from soil, play dough and sand, would produce the most drainage. Their predictions and vocabulary in this lesson was outstanding! The children also made cross curricular links as in maths, we have been using different units of measure.

This half term Year 5 have been learning about installation art. We started this unit by researching and creating artist study pages about the famous installation artist Cai Guo-Qiang.
