Racing Rockets

This week in STEM club the children have thought about rocket designs and built a rocket that can go as high as possible. The children spoke about rockets and explored their ideas. Each team was then given the resources that they would need for the challenge. They explored making and flying the basic tube shape. Once they had mastered this, they experimented finding out what made a difference to how the rocket flies. When the Read more

Taste and touch

In Science this week, Year 1 focused their learning on the senses of taste and touch. We began with a “feely bag” activity, where the children took turns placing their hands inside and using their sense of touch to describe and guess the object inside. Some children repeated the activity while wearing gloves, and we discovered that this made it much more challenging because our skin could not directly feel the object. We then discussed Read more

Shared Learning

We have had a lovely afternoon at our Shared Learning experience with our families. We linked our activity to the book we are currently reading in our English lessons – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The children worked with their adult to design a new chocolate bar – they had to come up with a name for it and design the wrapper.

Soap Sculptures

Our art topic this half term is Sculpture and 3D. Today we created our own sculptures out of a bar of soap. It was very tricky as the soap was very delicate and broke easily, however, we showed excellent problem-solving skills! Have a look at some of our creations!

Forest school – Christian value ‘Trust’ and skills builder skills

Today’s forest school concentrated on our Christian value of ‘Trust’ and incorporated lots of our skills builder skills. We used teamwork and leadership skills to create dens and obstacle courses. The children were blindfolded and had to work together and use our listening and speaking skills to guide their teammates through the course. Great fun was had by all! Thank you Miss Brown!

Installation Art

Today in our Art topic, Year 5 Juniper created their own installation art pieces. Installation art is using three dimensional art that aims to transform a particular place. The children used items within the classroom to create their own pieces. We had a variety of different artworks created including a bed and a rocket! Well done Juniper, you all put in so much effort and created some brilliant pieces!

Teach Active

Today we had a practical maths lesson to reinforce what we’ve been learning in our maths lessons over the last week. Around the classroom were question cards, each with a different multiplication question. We have to solve the calculation which then led us to the next question.
